WAELZHOLZ ACQUIRES COLD ROLLED STEEL STRIP FROM WICKEDER WESTFALENSTAHL GMBH

The Waelzholz Group is expanding its business in Germany and will take over the cold rolled steel strip activities of Wickeder Westfalenstahl GmbH in Wickede (Ruhr), with an annual sales volume of over 50,000 tons. This change of hands signifies an important strategic decision for both companies. The acquisition is currently subject to approval by the antitrust authorities.

For Waelzholz, this step will enable a systematic expansion of its core business with high-quality cold rolled steel strip and electrical steel strip. Especially for the latter product group, new standards will be set for further innovative developments, especially for the promising field of e-mobility. The acquisition is an important tactical move for the medium-sized family-owned enterprise.

Bundling activities in the area of cold rolled steel strip will provide a key supplement and an attractive finish to existing Waelzholz technology, helping the company once again improve its service while maintaining the highest standards in material and product quality. Waelzholz will be able to respond to customer requests with even greater flexibility, both in Europe and around the world.

With its sale to the long-standing company Waelzholz, the Wickeder Group will take an additional step toward focusing on and efficiently expanding its core business activities and investing in new business fields in the future.

The Waelzholz Group is the global market leader in high-quality cold rolled and heat-treated steel strips and profiles, used as primary products in the automobile industry, the energy sector, and in specialized industrial engineering applications. With over 185 years of experience, Waelzholz currently operates at nine sites in six countries, in Europe, North and South America, as well as Asia, and is the global leader in the development of innovative steel strip solutions.
