DR. JUNIUS AT THE HANDELSBLATT ANNUAL CONFERENCE “FUTURE OF STEEL”

Drive technology is changing – opportunities for medium-sized steel processing companies

Dr.-Ing. Hans-Toni Junius, CEO of the Waelzholz Group, gave a lecture at the annual conference “Future of Steel” organized by the German business newspaper Handelsblatt on March 8, 2018. In his presentation he talked about the meaning of e-mobility and the resulting implications for companies in the steel industry. At the two-day event in Düsseldorf, Germany, important decision-makers from steel production, trade and processing come together each year to discuss current developments and trends.

In his lecture, Dr. Junius presented the development of electrical drive concepts in the automotive industry as well as its effect on the cold rolling industry. The increasing electrification of the powertrain does present challenges, but also offers opportunities for German and European steel processors. With the production of non-grain-oriented electrical steel strip, Waelzholz already supports the trend towards e-mobility.

To conclude his presentation, Dr. Junius stressed the crucial role of medium-sized companies in the German market economy. These companies will make a decisive contribution to the upcoming technological change.
